Who we are


Frignani Virano e Associati has been founded more than forty years ago by professor Aldo Frignani. Beyond his experience, acquired through years of legal practice and academic teaching, the Firm has been enriched over the time by the skills and competence of the partners Paolo Virano and Alessandra Sonnati.


The firm supports clients with a complete range of services, from the management of the day-to-day operations, contract drafting, intellectual and industrial property rights defense and enforcement, to the extraordinary transactions, including the management of the related litigations.

The firm, starting from a careful analysis of the customer’s specific needs and targets, is able to offer customized and innovative solutions as well as efficient in terms of costs.

With the purpose of anticipating and meeting the expectations of clients, the firm focuses on quality and is committed to provide fast and plain services, in order to ensure comprehensive and effective legal assistance.


The founder

Aldo Frignani, founder of the firm Frignani Virano ed Associati, passed away on 2018. Aldo has always combined, with passion and empathy, the academic and the professional commitment with his contribution to the civil society. After having graduated from the University of Modena (J.D.1962), he studied at the Johns Hopkins University (1963) and the Faculté Internationale de Droit Comparé in Strasbourg (1963) and he continued his studies at the New York University Law School and at the Academy of American and International Law in Dallas (1975). He has been appointed as Full Professor of Comparative Law and of EU Private Law at the University of Turin, and was visiting professor or lectured at many foreign Universities among which New York (Fordham University), Harvard Law School; Kent of College of Law (Chicago). He has been active as officer and member in several committees of the International Bar Association (IBA), the International Academy of Comparative Law, the International League of Competition Law, the Licensing Executive Society (LES) and the Associazione Italiana per l’Arbitrato (AIA) as well as chairman of European Franchise Lawyers Group (EFL). He has been chairman of the association Conversazioni di diritto bancario “Cesare Manfredi” based in Turin. Author of numerous publications, text, books and articles on Antitrust Law, International Arbitration, International Contracts, Distribution Contracts and Industrial Law. Admitted to the Italian bar as of 1965, in the course of his private practice he has distinguished himself in carrying out, in a concrete way, the innovations and reasonings of which he was the herald in the scientific field.
